Newsgroups: alt.startrek.vs.starwars Subject: [Fanfic] Trek of the Jedi - Chapter 1 From: Lord Insanity Date: Sun, 29 Aug 1999 19:19:08 -0400 Prolouge For a thousand generations the Jedi had been the defenders of the Republic. The darkest period in history destroyed all that. The mighty Rupublic founded by Luke Starwalker died. The sith army ravaged the galaxy, destroying everything in their path. The Republic Navy was slaughtered in a matter of weeks. The last of the Jedi, all 217, had been refitting a Starwalker class Star Destroyer. It's figther bays were replaced with habitat bays. 457,000 people, unfortunatly all human, left as the ship lurched into hyperspace. A week into the trip and well outside of the galaxy it happened. The entire galaxy lit up in an apocalyptic series of explosions as though every star went supernova. As far as was known that ship, The Insanity, was the last legacy of the Republic and all that it had achieved. Four years later the Insanity finally stopped in a galaxy far from home. A planet of suitable habbitat was found and designated Earth. Its twin moons were merged together encaseing the Insanity in a protective shell that only the Jedi could remove. Five hundered generations have past since that time. Humanity had eventualy evolved into a space faring race again. Now they are part of the United Federation of Planets. It it still a pale shadow of what the Republic once was. The Jedi, in hiding since the beginning of this new age, finally have reason to reveal themselves to the Federation and this galaxy. Chapter 1 Lieutenant-commander Sobran strode briskly down the corridor. Something was very wrong he thought, he could feel it. Upon reaching the turbolift he instructed it to take him to the bridge. Sobran exited the bridge and went over to tactical. The ensign manning the station got up and walked off. "Glad you could join us Mr. Sobran" Captain Jourkin barked. "Yes sir." Sobran acknowledged. They had been ordered to patrol a sector near the Romulan Neutral Zone. It was supposed to be a routine job but an unknown ship changed all that. Long range scanners detected a very large ship in and uninhabited system. A solid reading could not be made so the USS Arganot altered course to investigate. "Do you think the Romulans are up to something?" asked Commander Grant. Jourkin replied "I doubt the Romulans would cause trouble so soon after the war." The ops officer Stukip chimed in "ETA 30 seconds." The Arganot dropped out of warp at a good distance away from the ship. "On screen." snapped Jourkin. "That ship is about three kilometers long! Unknown configuration." said Stukip obviously amazed. Sobran's jaw dropped. He knew what that was. There was no mistaking the triangular wedge shape that all of those ships, regardless of class, shared. "A star destroyer." he mumbled. "What was that Mr. Sobran?" Jourkin asked, annoyance clearly in his voice. Sobran ignored the Captain and with his right arm outstretched his eyes rolled to the back of his head. "MR. SOBRAN" Jourkin snarled angrily. A small metal rod about six centimeters long and one centimeter wide flew out of Sobran's forearm and landed on the floor. Jourkin was quite startled at this. The hole in his arm closed and healed as though it never existed. The rod leapt from the floor toward Sobran's belt. As it did it metamorphosed in an almost organic but still clearly mechanical fashion. The lightsaber clipped itself to Sobran's belt and his eyes opened to see the bridge crew staring at him. Darth Zijik looked out the forward viewport. He liked the Blade class Star Destroyer despite its dated design. The newer designs were too 'comfortable' for his tastes. Zijik was admiring the pristine white-silver color of his ship the Imperialist. Captain Blake walked up "m'lord we have detected a small ship moving toward us." Zijik turned, annoyance at such a stupid remark showing on his face. "The ship is traveling faster that light but still very slowly. It is on an intercept course." "Faster than light but still slow enough for our scanners to detect?" "Yes m'lord." Zijik stared into nothingness for a moment. He gritted his teeth as he gave the order. "Battle stations" Zijik walked over to the command chair and sat down. A Sithtroopper wearing a black helmet and armor with crimson trim was fiddling impatiently with his blaster. Clumsily he dropped it and sent a bolt of energy into the ceiling. Zijik looked over and the Sithtroopper was picked up by an unseen hand. A loud crack emanated from the trooper's neck and he fell to the ground with a broken spine. Several minutes later a ship appeared in a flash of light. "Analysis" barked the captain. "Unknown weapons systems but do not appear to use much power. Shields are very weak as well. It is equipped with sub-space transceivers. The vessel is no match for us." responded a scanner technician. Zijik sensed a ripple in the force and stood up. "Hail them." he seethed. Sobran tapped his console and spoke "Shields up, Red Alert." A security officer fired his phaser at Sobran. His hand seemed to stop the beam and the security officers phaser flew to Sobran's feet. "What the HELL IS GOING ON SOBRAN?!" hollered Jourkin. "Were are being hailed." he replied calmly. "Goddamnit Sobran." The Captain was furious and let out a deep breath. "On screen." As Sobran hit the console he activated a small hyperwave transceiver implanted in his skull. A dark hooded profile was presented before the crew of the Arganot. Next to Zijik was Captain Blake. The holo projector created a flat image that Zijik and Blake were looking at. Captain Jourkin stood up. "I am Captain Jourkin of the Federation starship Arganot." "I am Captain Blake of the Sith League warship Imperialist. Lower your shields and prepare to be boarded." "This is Federation space I suggest you refrain from making threats." Zijik took a more prominent position "Surrender the Jedi to me." he hissed. "What the hell is a Jedi." asked Jourkin. Zijik counter with "Take down their shields." A single turbolaser bolt crashed into the shields of the Arganot. "Shields down to twenty-three percent." Sobran offered. The captain leered at him and turned back to the screen. "Fire at will Mr. Sobran." A second turbolaser bolt crashed into the shields taking them down as a full spread of quantum torpedoes was launched at the Star Destroyer. "Incoming." Blake called to the gunnery stations. Only two torpedoes hit the shields. "Ion cannons have no affect on their primary systems though several secondary systems are inoperable." "Shields down to ninety-six percent." "From two torpedoes?" "Enemy ship discharging beam weapon." "Shields down to ninety-five percent." "Tractor beam locked on their weapons are inoperable." "I thought you said their weapons are low power." "They are but affect our shields greatly for some reason." Blake was not happy with that answer. "All electrical systems are fried sir." Stukip said frantically. "Only major systems that use ODN are working." Jourkin simply sighed. "A small ship just decloaked off our port bow." Sobran observed aloud. The assault transport flew up the hull and latched itself to the plating directly above the bridge. Jourkin looked up as he and the rest of the bridge crew clutched their phasers. Sobran held his light saber. "What is that thing Sobran?" Jourkin asked clearly irritated at the whole chain of events. "It is a lightsaber, I am a Jedi Paladin." "A what?" Sparks fell from the ceiling as a section of the hull fell to the floor. A thermal detonator fell afterward. Sobran reached out and flung it back with the force. A single dead Sithtroopper fell through the hole. Several more jumped down and began blasting wildly. Phaser and blaster fire filled the bridge. Sobran lunged forward and cut through the troopers in seconds. All stray shots were deflected much to the bewilderment of the crew. None had ever seen a phaser beam bend and recoil like that before. He pushed up with his hand and the assault transport shot away from the Arganot. Structural integrity fields erected themselves to secure the breech. Zijik watched with disgust. "DESTROY THEM." he bellowed. The forward batteries came to life and decimated the Arganot. There were no survivors. Admiral Jeric Solo watched as Sobran sliced through the Black and crimson troops. Then in a brilliant flash the transmission stopped. The Jedi Master removed his lightsaber from his forearm and attached it to his belt. He turned to the other Jedi in the Jedi Annex "It is time to bring the Insanity online." Chapter 2 Empress Sariss brought her violet lightsaber blade down hard. Darth Grok was sent flying backwards. His orange blade almost sliced his own head off. Quickly Grok jumped up to defend himself from Sariss. A violet streak came toward his right. He parried and quickly swung in toward the Empress. His orange blade was pushed up and Sariss sliced through his hilt. The orange blade sputtered and vanished. "NOOOO" he yelled quivering with rage. "Be glad we were only practicing." Sariss said as if bored by the rigorous exercise. "Now be gone." "As you wish m'lady" As he strode off Commander Crutz came into the room briskly. "Lord Zijik's report has arrived." "Good, now leave." "Yes m'lady." It was only a matter of minutes before all the Jedi, over 800,000 of them, had received a hyperwave transmission. The transmission no one had ever wanted to receive was sent. "Priority One Transmission: Sith incursion detected, initiate emergency protocols, stand by for further instructions." Most of the Jedi were humans but there were several from other species. Even one Klingon had managed to subdue her natural aggressive tendencies and was trained. As was stated though most were human. "We are ready to begin sir." The Jedi had maintained the Starwalker class Star Destroyer Insanity for five hundred generations. The moon which originally only encased the massive vessel was turned into a maintenance bay by the first generation. "Starfleet command will be quite startled when they detect this." Master Solo grinned at what he had just said. "Lets hope that your rank of Admiral counts for something." spoke G'lorna the Klingon Jedi. "Indeed." With that said, Solo pushed his hand outward. A five kilometer hole pushed through the side of the moon. "Structural integrity measures have worked perfectly the moon is completely stable." Empress Sariss relished the sight of the Arganot's destruction. It had taken the Sith League nearly 500 generations to rebuild a war fleet that was even close to the mighty fleet of their ancestors. They had been fools to devise such poor strategies Sariss thought. One can not win a war if your army is destroyed. She still longed for a weapon that legend spoke of, a laser that could blow apart a planet. "If this is the best the Jedi have done in 500 generations we won't need that glorious weapon." Sariss spoke to no one. She activated the holo transmitter. "Commander Crutz transfer fifteen Blade Star Destroyers from our fleet to Darth Zijik's command." "Yes m'lady." Sariss turned back to the viewport and gazed at the galaxy that had called to her. Finally she would eliminate the sensation these Jedi caused in the Force. The loathsome 'voice' of the light side must be stopped. The Starfleet Admirals comprising Starfleet Command watched the viewscreen. The orbital sensor grid detected a very large seismic upheaval on the moon. "Sir," a lieutenant reported "a large chunk of the moon has dislodged itself by unknown means." "What?" asked one of the Admirals. "Detecting... a large structure imbedded in the moon." "My god!" "A ship is emerging... approximately ten kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide." The Insanity was the last of the greatest warships the Republic had ever built, the Starwalker Star Destroyer. It's fighter bays were no longer functional but it did not need fighters. The ship has 1600 quad-laser cannons to deal with enemy fighters. It was also equipped with 800 turbolasers, 200 ion cannons, 50 warhead launchers, 50 tractor beam emitters and six superlasers. All of this was quite unknown to the gawking officers. "S-sir were b-being hailed." stuttered a lieutenant. "We have analyzed their sub-space networks m'lord. We have determined what we believe to be the capital of this so called Federation." "Excellent Captain Blake." Zijik thought soon we will finally crush the Jedi and enslave this galaxy for our own. With sixteen Blade Star Destroyers the Federation and all other Groups will not stand a chance. The Empress will indeed be pleased. "The Blades will arrive within the hour m'lord." "Excellent." Chapter 3 "Open a channel" "Yes Sir." A holographic form of Admiral Solo appeared before Starfleet Command. "Greetings gentlemen." "Jerec Solo what is the meaning of this." "I am a Jedi Master. The Jedi have defended peaceful beings for thousands of generations. It is time for us to once again defend you from the Sith." "Jedi... Sith... What is all this nonsense?" Solo spent nearly two hours informing the admirals of Starfleet command. They spoke of the past and present. It was revealed that humans had descended from former inhabitants of the Republic and the Jedi had been in hiding. The admirals were not exactly thrilled to learn the Jedi had built a handful of smaller Star Destroyers. The Neo Star Destroyers were only one kilometer long but still had one superlaser built into them. "Four of these ships are on their way here." "Why" asked an impatient Admiral. "Because it is only a matter of time before the Sith attack Ea... BATTLE STATIONS!." The mottled blues and greens of hyperspace dissolved into starlines and then Earth was visible. The fighter bays opened and each of the sixteen Blade Star Destroyers launched 24 cloaked fighters. "Unknown Star Destroyer configuration detected." "Ten klicks long." "All ships prepare to engage." "Ship has massive power output." Zijik looked over at Captain Blake. "Fire at will." "All Jedi to Gunnery control positions. I sense cloaked enemy fighters." There were nearly 500 Jedi on board the Insanity. Many took up positions at gunnery stations controlling ten turrets each. Blaster fire from the invisible Sith fighters began striking the Insanity. Dozens of torpedoes were launched. Not one torpedo hit nor any fighter escaped. "Over fifty fighters have been destroyed." "On the first pass!" Blake said flustered. "All fighters back off." Several more were lost before the order was carried out. "Commence Turbolaser bombardment." Hundreds of bolts began pelting the Insanity. "Massive power surge on enemy vessel detected." Darth Zijik's eyes widened as he saw what was going to happen. Six green beams lanced out. Solo's eyes had rolled back in his head as he concentrated on controlling the superlasers. Six Star Destroyers were vaporized. Two cloaked Neo Star Destroyers lurched out of hyperspace behind the Sith League fleet. A lone Sovereign class Federation starship came around Earth in defiance of its orders. Solo reached out with the force to push it back but it was too late. Turbolaser fire ripped it apart. Several Sith fighters flew toward the remaining federation fleet that had now been revealed. Two more cloaked Neo Star Destroyers streaked into real space near the federation fleet. The fighters met a quick death. Six more Blade Star Destroyers fell victim to the Insanity. The two Neo Star Destroyers decloaked behind the four remaining Blades and vaporized two. Zijik was teeming with rage as he used the force to launch his two remaining ships into hyperspace. "Empress Sariss will be most displeased with this turn of events." Captain Blake looked very uneasy at that statement. Zijik briskly strode off the bridge. Empress Sariss opened her eyes and was furious. The dark side had shown her the humiliating defeat which the Sith League had suffered. The Jedi will pay for this she thought. Over and over the anger swelled in her. Unconscious arcs of lightning leapt from her hands to the deck plating of her meditation chamber. As the rage swelled she hollered at the top of her lungs. Thinking their Empress might be in danger two Sithtroopers rushed in. The rage consumed Sariss. Two bolts of lightning leapt from her hands and lifted the two troopers off the ground. Sariss snapped her hands shut and the bolts intensified for an instant and were gone. Two charred skeletons fell to floor and broke to ash. Chapter 4 Jerec Solo strode into the transporter room. As Admiral Ross rematerialized he was taken aback by Solo's appearance. The dark brown Jedi robes were not what Admiral Ross was expecting to see. "Solo?" "Yes Admiral." "Starfleet command has appointed me your liaison officer." They walked out into the corridor. "My job is to deal with any federation starships you... we may encounter that have not been briefed." "Is that really necessary." The walked into a turbolift. "Solo your not exactly a well known admiral and wearing that won't convince many. I on the other hand am well known for my role in the Dominion war." "Very well then." "According to your briefing you say the Jedi have a shipyard at the far end of the Beta Quadrant." "Correct." "Four of these Neo Star Destroyers are here at earth. Are the remaining sixteen at this shipyard." "Only two have stayed at the shipyard the other fourteen are en route." The both walked onto the bridge. "Admiral on the bridge." piped up an ensign. "Report." inquired Solo. G'lorna answered. "Three sovereign, eight akira, and four defiant class federation starships have had their shield generators replaced. Their warp cores were replaced with hypermatter reactors to provide the necessary power the generators required." "Good we won't need to rely on Neo's for defense then." The Imperialist and its remaining Blade Star Destroyer escort streaked into real space. Darth Zijik inquired. "ETA?" Before anyone could answer dozens of ships blinked into real space. Then came the largest ship ever built. Empress Sariss' own ship was putrid yellowish brown. The 2000 kilometer long ship was encased in quantum armor. "The Dominator is hailing us m'lord. The Empress wishes to speak with you." Zijik walked into an adjacent ready room. Empress Sariss gazed at the blank holo emitter as Zijik winked into a bluish figure kneeling before her. "What is thy bidding my master." "You will transfer to a Vengeance Star Destroyer to lead an assault on the Klingon homeworld." "As you wish." The bluish figure of the Empress vanished and Zijik stood up. Turning he walked out of the room. A shuttle ferried Zijik to the Skull Crusher. The Vengeance Star Destroyer was fifteen kilometers long. It had hundreds of turbolasers and nearly 200 fighters. Little good they would be against those superlasers the Jedi had. That technology was desired more than any other by the Empress. Zijik had always found the myth of a planet destroying laser an amusing story. No longer would the laugh at the "myth." The shuttle landed in the Skull Crusher's hanger. Empress Sariss look out her window and saw a fairly large cube approaching the fleet. She walked onto the bridge of the Dominator. "The cube vessel is hailing us." "Open a channel." chimed in Darth Grok. Darth Zijik's new fleet leapt into hyperspace toward the Klingon homeworld. "We are the Borg. You will lower your shields and surrender. You will be assimilated. We will add your technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile." Grok laughed. "Fools you will die today." "Fools are irrelevant. Resistance is futile." "What?!" "They are attempting to lock a tractor beam on us." "Destroy them." The Dominator had over a million turbolasers. The cube was ripped apart in short order. "M'lord twelve Borg vessels have just appeared." "Signal the fleet to engage. Destroy everything." Captain Piccard studied the new hypermatter reactor and shield generators from the bridge engineering station.. "These are amazing." "The power and strength of this technology is indeed impressive." noted Data. "The cloaking device however is in violation of the treaty of..." "We don't have the luxury of worrying about the Romulans." Jedi Paladin Fred BeLart cut Data off. "Sir we are being hailed by a Romulan warbird." "Red alert. Shields up. Where are they?" "I don't know they are cloaked." "On screen." "This is Captain Picc..." "I know who you are. We have seen you testing a cloaking device. We have been ordered to terminate your experiments." The screen changed to the Federation logo as the Romulan Commander cut them off. "Six warbirds decloaking." "Were no match for six warbirds" said Riker as he walked out of the Turbolift and took his seat. "With the modifications we made we are." spoke BeLart. The warbirds began pounding the Enterprise. All but BeLart was quite startled. The ship didn't even shake let along violently shudder. No sparks flew from any consoles no conduits ruptured. "Shields at 98 percent." The internal lights dimmed. "Why are we cloaking." barked Riker. "We have more than enough power to cloak, keep shields up, and fire weapons." "Disable the ships." ordered Piccard. The Romulans were clearly unprepared for what happened. In less than a minute all six warbirds were adrift.
