Haditha Hannity Strikes Again!

Filed under: News, Politics and Religion — Jason Peppers @ 10:53 pm

Sean “Haditha” Hannity must be taking a break from fleecing his mouth-breathing fans with his “freedom” concert scam. He’s back to his old tricks, which is to say, he is once again using the microphone and transmitters supplied by Disney to simultaneously promote torture and murder, as well as lie about torture and murder in order to cover up for those who carry out the atrocities he supports. Whether it’s New York policemen who beat, rape and kill people, or the thugs at Abu Ghraib, or denying the atrocities committed in Vietnam or most recently, bemoaning the fact that several Marines are facing court-martial for the Haditha Massacre, Sean Insanity can be counted on to side with thugs, rapists and killers.

Eight Marines, including officers and enlisted men were charged either with taking part in the massacre, covering it up, or failure to properly investigate the matter. Rick Rogers of the San Diego Union-Tribune describes what has happened since:

“CAMP PENDLETON – Charges against the commander of a Marine unit accused of killing 24 Iraqis in Haditha nearly two years ago have been dismissed, officials announced Tuesday.

Capt. Lucas M. McConnell was charged late last year with two counts of failing to properly investigate and report a Nov. 19, 2005, incident that left one Marine and 24 men, women and children dead.

McConnell, the company commander of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, has been given immunity in the case and is expected to testify.

He was not present in Haditha when a roadside bomb struck a Marine convoy, or during the ensuing house-to-house fighting in which the civilians were killed.

The 32-year-old captain was one of four officers and four enlisted Marines from the Camp Pendleton-based battalion who were charged Dec. 21, 2006, in the Haditha incident. The officers were accused of failing to investigate how the Iraqi civilians died, while the enlisted men were charged with murder.

This summer has seen a winnowing of those charges. Those against four of the eight defendants have either been dismissed outright or reduced in connection with grants of immunity. Other cases appear stalled or weak.

Only three of the original defendants – Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani and Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum – face possible court-martial any time soon.

A fourth, Lt. Andrew Grayson, has reportedly rejected a government plea deal in the case. No substantial hearings have been held in his case.”

Lt. Gen. James Mattis, Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, ordered the dismissal of the charges.

“Lt. Gen. Mattis determined that administrative measures are the appropriate response for any errors or omissions allegedly committed by McConnell,” a Corps statement said.

The fact that one of the derelict officers accepted (and was given) administrative punishment rather than face court martial, as well as the fact that charges have been dropped and/or reduced for the Marines who agreed to testify is cited by Hannity and other war whores as proof that (a) there was no massacre and (b) those who called for an investigation are “slandering” the Marine Corps. Of course this leaves out that it’s the Marine Corps that brought the charges in the first place. It takes an astonishing level of dishonesty to claim that Marines who copped to lesser misdeeds to avoid harsher punishment are proof that they are innocent. But then, right-wingers have always been morally retarded.

Lying about atrocities, making folk heroes out of those who commit them, and libeling those who speak out is as much a part of right-wing politics as bigotry, greed and stupidity. Back when Lt. William Calley was on trial for the My Lai Massacre, the Right went to great lengths to make him into a Christ-like martyr, including a hit single set to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic.

These people have pus in their souls.
